When was the last time you looked in the mirror and winked a hi-gorgeous-greeting to your not so perfect reflection? Can’t Remember? Have you been berating yourself lately?
You are not alone in experiencing moments of self doubt and uncertainty, and in times like these, it is important that you have a deep connection to your own worthiness. You may be an imperfect person, but there is only one you in this universe. Despite you not being perfect, there is a lot you have contributed to this world that has made someone else’s existence happier. Stop scolding yourself and flooding your mind with negative thoughts. No matter how bad it is or how bad it gets, just celebrate yourself!
When people stare at your outrageous outfit, wave at them to show your equally outrageous nail polish, give them your flashiest smile; sway your hips a little more and do a catwalk. Celebrate yourself.
When your friends tease you for not sleeping with your girlfriend of 6 years because you believe in the sanctity of marriage; don’t feel bad. Hold your head up high, keep your values and seek out friends who share the same beliefs. Celebrate yourself.
When all your siblings are on the honour roll and all you got is the Most Punctual award, don’t be miserable. Being punctual is a main ingredient of success. Celebrate yourself.
Of course these are very shallow examples in the greater scheme of things. My point is, find what is good about you and enjoy it. Do not dwell in your “imperfections”. Focus on your victories. Love your colour, be proud of your hair, show the world your talent, be excited about life, be enthusiastic about your job, put a melody to your life, walk tall, commune with nature, soar like an eagle. Celebrate yourself!
Celebrating yourself is finding the beauty of your uniqueness, asserting your preferences, and living your values. It is not being boastful. It is totally different from self centeredness. Celebrating yourself is all about appreciating your strengths and acknowledging your flaws. When you celebrate yourself, you find meaning and purpose in your life. It makes you find alternatives to desperation and frustration.
Celebrating yourself is an act of gratefulness to your Creator.
Go ahead, celebrate yourself!
